Beej Mantras – ‘Ham and Ksham'

The aim of Jesus Christ was to open the centre of your Agnya and to achieve that purpose He got Himself crucified and then He resurrected. It appears to be a miracle but for the Divinity there is no miracle as such. He proved that human beings could rise above the centre of Agnya and on this centre He told two mantras which we call

Beej Mantras – ‘Ham and Ksham’-

‘Ksham’ means to forgive. Ksham is the biggest mantra. The ego of the person who knows how to forgive, gets destroyed. One is proud of small-small things. For example if you tell someone to sit on the earth, his ego gets hurt. If some one is told to sit in the chair, he will reply, “This chair is very small, why have you given it to me?”

Everyone has some expectation about him and if his expectations are not fulfilled, his ego immediately comes up. Unknowingly some times such things could be done but the egoistical people take it as their insult. Such people make their condition very miserable. All the time they think they are being insulted and humiliated. He is always obsessed with this thought and he draws negative meaning of whatever is told to him.

So we have to think of what Jesus Christ had thought. He said, “Forgive those who have tress passed against you”. Now see the results if you forgive everyone. You will neither suffer nor get disturbed mentally. You will not think of the person whom you have forgiven. Nothing could go against you because you forgive everyone. We get this power from the centre of Agnya.

The person whose Agnya is clear forgives everyone. If we do not forgive we torture ourselves and play in the hands of others, who assume power over us. ‘Forgiveness’ is the greatest message that Jesus Christ has given to mankind.

Second is ‘Ham’. It has altogether different meaning. Ham means ‘To Know Thyself.’ You have to know that you are the Spirit. You are not this body, mind, brain or ego. You are the Spirit. When you knows this ‘Ham’ then it will be clear to you that you are the ‘Atma’. The ‘Spirit’ means that all the ego, foolishness, ignorance that we have in our mind, are meaningless. All these negativities have absolutely no place in the Pure Spirit. You are very pure.

Vidya Lakshmi

Vidya-Lakshmi -Vidya is the art of Sahaja Yoga, which you know, that is Vidya. The rest is all Avidya.

How to raise the Kundalini; how to awaken all the deities; how to cleanse yourself; how to cleanse others; all the knowledge; all the science about that is called as Vidya, the Lakshmi of that. Lakshmi is the grace, is the grace. Awareness.. that is gracious.

Awareness that is gracious. So that Lakshmi should be with you, is that not only to know the Vidya, you know that, but to have grace about it. The way people do things, for example, some people may just go on.. all that kind of nonsense you do. Sometimes the way we go on working, when I’m giving lecture and people are just working out. All that is most disgraceful and depressing. So not to do these methods of making the thing look so depressed… I mean you need not be serious people at all because Sahaja Yoga is not a serious thing, it is a play. It is a play of grace. You have to be but gracious; you are not to be disgraceful, that’s very important.

If you are disgraceful, then your Vidya is useless. I have seen many people all the time doing like this, doing like that; they think that if their left hand…jaw.. see? They have become now masters of this. There’s no grace about it. One has to see how to do it graciously. You see your Mother, how She moves Her hands and fingers. Not one day, one time, even in one action you will find Me doing something unrespectable, except when I copy you. So this is what it is, is the Vidya Lakshmi. Lakshmi is the grace within the Vidya.

H.H.Shri Mataji , Diwali Puja , Hampstead London, 9th November 1980

Then the second one is Vidya Lakshmi. She is the one who teaches you the technique of handling the Divine power. Now that is to be understood very well, what is the Lakshmi? Lakshmi is graciousness. So she teaches you how to use this power with graciousness. Now, this is what is the blessing going to you so that you get the power of the Adya Lakshmi by which you become like water.

What is the water? It has got the cleansing power, and which I am, without water we cannot exist in this life. So that is the first blessing for you is that your face shines, with Adya Lakshmi as you become cleansed and that you can see all that is serious, all that is light and forgotten.

Vidya Lakshmi is the one, I told you, who gives you knowledge. Knowledge of how to handle the Divine Power graciously. I will give an example, I have seen many people, when they give the Bandhan, it is such a crude way. No, it is not to be done. It is a Lakshmi. So now you do it very carefully. You see Me, how I give all that. I never do that way. I cannot, with respect. With grace.

She represents the respect part. And that you get, that knowledge, how to do it gracefully. Everything is to be done gracefully, in a manner that looks gracious. Some people who talk have no grace, nothing! Some people who give knowledge of Sahaja Yoga also have no grace and they talk in a disgraceful manner. With all the grace, how to use the knowledge of the Divine is given by Vidya Lakshmi.

Vande-Matram

This is the last song, which is every great song of olden days. Last time I told a story of my father. He was a great patriot. He carried our tricolor flag on top of the high court.

He climbed up and they shot at him. He got a shot, here in the head. He was bleeding, bleeding, still he went up, put the flag there and saw that it is already flying. Only then he came down and told us to sing the song.

We were all dancing down below. You sing the song of Vande-Matram that means we salute to you, ‘ O Mother.’

Now you see our country is going through some stupid movement that they said that you should not sing this song. We fought the whole of this war of independence singing this song; and those who are saying that, I ask them.

‘How many of you have worked for Independence?

What have you contributed for getting independence?

What is your right to say that you will not have this song?

This song is a song which suggests the beauty of Mother land, the nature of our Mother land. This song was always used as a National Anthem.

Somehow, some new people have come and they say it is in Sanskrit language. It is not. It is not completely in Sanskrit language. I mean I really some time feel like crying, even I remember those days when we were facing the British with their guns on us and singing song.

Today these people, from somewhere they have arisen and trying to say that we should not have this song at all. This is what happens in Kaliyuga. They forget all that has happened before. So I hope you now stand up for this song
‘National Anthem’.

Thank You.

A story about sankocha

"See this softness of Shri Rama goes to the extremes where I call the sankocha, the formality, the formal – but it is the English language, 'formal' is not the word, Sankoch.

He was once when He was fighting Ravana,He was taking out with His arrows his ten heads one after another. And if He took out one, then took out the second, the first one would come back because he had a kind of a blessing that nobody could kill him by hitting him on his head.

So Lakshmana said, “You know for definite that this Ravana cannot be killed by hitting on his head, so why don’t You hit him in his heart? "

Shri Rama said, “The reason is this: that just now in his heart Mahalakshmi, the Sita . Sita is sitting in his heart. And how can I hit him on his heart because She’s there? She might be hurt.”

“So what’s the use of hitting on the head?” he said.

He Said, “Because, once I start hitting him on the head fast, his attention will go there. As soon as his attention will go into his head, then I can hit him on his heart”
See the sankoch ? See the sankoch, the way He talked.

Birthday of Shri Rama - Ram Navami

So as a child Rama was studying with a very great saint, Vishwamitra, and he had an ashram where Rama and His brothers studied, and they used to come for holidays to their father’s place. Then He had the capacity to kill a demon with only one arrow. One arrow of Shri Rama’s was sufficient. And He was a small little child, say about seven, eight years of age and people were surprised how He could do it.

Now these Yagnyas [ceremonies] were created to evoke the deities within the spinal column, actually. And for these Yagnyas they used to sit down and do all these Havanas the way we do it. But at that time the rakshasas [demons] would come and try to spoil the Yagnya. Because Yagnyas are to be done with a pure heart, and with cleanliness and with purity. It should not be insulted. There is a protocol about it. While they thought that, “If we insult the deities there, then the deities will disappear and their Yagnyas will be spoiled.”

At the time of Rama also there were some rakshasas who took a special pleasure in spoiling these Yagnyas, and Rama as a child would go and protect the rishis [saints] from the demons. And the demons would take on some sort of a funny form, and come like miserable creatures and put some bones of animals and things like that in the Yagnya, and that would spoil the effects of the Yagnya. And Rama would protect that, as a child. Imagine, as a child He used to do that. They would be doing the Yagnya and He would be sitting outside with all His small brothers around Him, and they would kill the demons who would try to destroy the Yagnya.

This is the early life of Rama in which you see how as a child also He showed an amount of expertise in arrow and bow. So any time you see a statue, how to make out if it’s a Rama statue is to see if there’s an arrow and a bow – then it’s Rama’s statue.

Now His coming on this earth gave us the development of the right side, and so the Yagnyas were also on the right side. Because first of all when human beings came on this earth, they were frightened of all the animals who would invade them and all kinds of horrible rakshasas and all those people, and negative forces would trouble them. In that state they needed to create a king, a ruler who was an ideal king and who would rule according to the laws of dharma [right conduct]. So He was the one in charge of that.

He was here in Treta Yuga, and Krishna came at the time of Dwapar Yuga. When I came it was Kali Yuga, but now today the time is of Krita Yuga. The Yuga where work will be done – Krita Yuga. This is the time where work will be done. So far things have moved from one to another.

Now in the Treta Yuga when Shri Rama came, the idea of kingship and rulership started, so the greatest emphasis was on the goodwill of the people. The people had to have goodwill, for the people and for the king, and for the betterment of humanity. The will: that is the right side. So how to create the goodwill? First the leader has to sacrifice, and show how far he can go on sacrificing to keep the moral and the goodwill of the people. So the right side was created by the advent of Shri Rama, because He showed a path of creating among people the awareness that they should be ruled, that they should not be anarchists. There should be one head who should be able to organise, coordinate and work out a collective thing.

Detachment as a Sahaja Yogi

So just try to keep your aim clear-cut. You must try to understand what is your aim in life as Sahaja yogis. Now you are changed people. You are no more people who have to deal with possessions, or worry about them, about mundane things, about your livelihoods. You are no more people who have to worry too much about your health and things or your personal lives. You are not to worry, also, about your jobs so much. That's not important. And last of all not to worry about your family, children, husband, wife, and find a pocket for you to hide into it. Because the only thing where you can really hide yourself is the love of God, where you can really get the great, restful, blissful feeling of His complete protection.
