The Darkness of Hell

The reason I am speaking about hell on this day is only because the hell means the darkness and that is the hell that we witness.




Now your lamps are lit. In that light, you must recognize the types of hells. You must support the government. Try to help to identify dishonest. You may be in a junior or a senior position in society, but you must speak out as to who are the culprits. You must catch the culprits.




Expose those who are liars. Now you have the powers with you- for what purpose? You are awakened. For what purpose did you have the enlightenment? In that light, you must see yourself. In the darkness nothing was visible but watch your own light to see for yourself what you are. And what are you going to achieve by telling lies?




We are householders. Whenever you are compelled to lie, you have the powers within you, you are all lamps. You should see judge them in this darkness. You are the lamps and the lamps are to sustain the light. We have to wipe out this darkness. We all have earned a bad name from far across. Well, nowhere on Earth will you find people like that of our country.




I am in pain when I learn what a gross misunderstanding people have developed about us. And what does one achieve by dishonesty? God Knows! And whatever is pursued is horrible. No one will be spared. Whoever has become dishonest will be caught. There are arrangements for all that. You have received your Realization because you are not dishonest. You love truth and respect the truth. I want that you should stand on truth.




Now for example, these days people throw litter into Yamunaji (the River Yamuna). It means they are stupid. Yamunaji directly descends down to hell, but you will be saved from that hell. You are realized souls. The ones who have the light with them, they generally do not descend. But if you really want to establish Sahaja Yoga fully within yourself, then you have to swear in the beginning that you will never commit dishonesty of any type.




Passion to earn money seems to be the only business left out in this world. What is the outcome? Nobody even remembers them. If you love your country, then in the first place you must establish the truth- or else where lays the trust for love from a person who is a liar? It is a great struggle for you when you realize “our neighbor is of such a type, so let us also become like that.”




But on the contrary, why don’t we ever think that we are like this, so why can’t we mold our neighbor also like us? First of all, today let us promise that we will never commit any dishonesty nor support any dishonest person. I do not know why, but falsehood seems to be a curse on our country. There are several people who speak at least ten lies right from morning until evening, yet it does not satisfy them.

Beyond Slavery

Truthfulness is a very important aspect or else you can never get rid of you Agnya. The Agnya is there where you have something as the ego. When ego develops in a person he may commit any offences (blunders), any sin, can harm anyone, earn illegally by corruption. They all will go to hell.




I want to warn you that you should never indulge in earning illegally by corruption. You are not dying, for that matter. What have you done by earning more? What are you doing? You may have fitted a few more extra bulbs to light up your house or kept a few women to give you company- that’s all, nothing more than that. Now what will be your condition when you go to hell?




I am discussing all this on this day of Diwali because Diwali was celebrated on the occasion when Sitaji returned to reunite with Shri Rama. Once we imbibe the character within, then we cannot more remain slaves any more. We are our own slaves only and, of course, not of the others. One should not lie for any reason.




I have stayed in Delhi for a long time and I am so astonished to see how much the people lie here. My God- they are not at all afraid. Speaking blatant lies at face and pursuing benefit out of it, may probably help him achieve something here. It may even help him a few extra rupees, but for sure he never can go to heaven.




I want the Sahaja Yogis to promise that from today onwards, neither we will ever lie nor we will ever support the liar.




People speak about our country, that we are very dishonest. Everywhere I have traveled into far remote areas and found that the people of Russia are the best amongst them. They are indeed half-Sahaja Yogis already and many are Sahaja Yogis as well, I could not go to Russia this year. I shall definitely visit next year.




However, this means that we could not harness democracy. We too should have been communist. There are no petty offences or crime (chori chakari) in those places, no lies and they all love you.




There is great respect for Me too. But it is to be understood, after all, where we are leading. Just for the sake of earning a few more (rupees), where are we going? What are we going to achieve?




Therefore, in the first place you must be honest. Your dishonesty will cause trouble to your own people only. People blame India, claiming that people of this place are very dishonest. I am ashamed to hear all this.




You have had so many great saints, so many great souls in the past and people here are very corrupt and cheat a lot and criticize. So, right at the beginning only, your Agnya is scared. People will become very rich and wealthy. You will find at the end of the day, Mr. Rich is making his journey into hell.




Today I want to tell you that Diwali means that the hell is dark and you have become the light. What is expected of you is that you should fight it out wherever there is darkness and announce what is wrong. With this, our country will improve. And this is yet another job that you have to carry out.




We are already performing pujas and rituals. That is all right, but the innate power which we have within us is the one which stands opposed to all that is untrue. Many people are unaware that earning (illegal) money is a disease and they will go directly to hell.




I am telling you all this because no one spoke about it like this before. I am telling you on the day of Diwali that we going to celebrate the joy and light the lamps within our hearts. In it, with that light, we can see who is what and who is cheating.

Independence of the Self

And the meaning of Diwali is this: as the lamps are lit outside, similarly they should be lit within you. And you must also realize that you are like the lights in this world of darkness. You are the lamps and you have to emit the light. But if it has not been able to be enlightened fully from within, then how can you emit light? Think it over, too.




That is why in the first place, the Sahaja Yogis should ensure that the light is fully established. And possibly it could be the means by which we have come to this world. Until Jesus Christ no one ever spoke of these matters. He descended at the level of Agnya Chakra and revealed to the world that He did not have any ego within Him.




He was the son of the Almighty, yet He had no ego. Those who came before Him barely revealed anything, while Jesus Christ desired that our Agnya Chakra be set right. And that Agnya Chakra catches too much in your Delhi. What could be the reason?




At first the English came here to stay and then the Englishmen taught us how to be ghamand (proud and egoistical). It can easily be made out from your discussions. I have also seen all those days when our country was dependent (upon them), but you have come out of that dependency. Now there is swatantranta (independence).




And what is swatantranta ? Swa - to know your own Self and whoever has known his own Self, he knows the tantra (the mechanism or system) of his Swa (to master the knowledge of the system that drives the Self) .Through Sahaja Yoga you have come to know about yourself. And now you know that you are the tantra. Therefore, you have to be guided by that tantra yourself.




There has been a lot of development in Delhi that is visible. A lot of it has also been done beyond Delhi. The shortcomings and the faults in the people here are known to you. I need not tell you that. Now that you have become swatantra (independent), you should ensure that whether you possess such faults in you or not, the first and foremost trouble is that your own Agnya Chakra is catching.




Jesus Christ died. He was put on the cross, yet we did not learn anything from it. On the contrary, wherever there are Christian countries, they possess tremendous ego in them. They had their influence on us too. But the worst part here is that now we do not recognize each other. There is quarreling everywhere- fights everywhere. There is no purity of mind amongst each other.




So the first thing is that our minds are to be purified. Everything is possible in Sahaja Yoga. People can reach any position from anywhere. It is not necessary to go and sit in the Himalayas for that reason. You can do it in this city of Delhi itself. But if you look around, you will find egoistical people. They have their Agnya Chakra severely caught up. So it is really very difficult.




Now God has sent one new thing called cancer. If you are caught up with cancer and in case your Agnya Chakra is not set right, then it can never be cured. Instead there will be great trouble. That is why those who have cancer should take to Sahaja Yoga and try to get rid of the ego that is possessed within because wherever you have government, ego creeps into the people.




We have so many government servants here and they have a lot of ego within them. But it is more prominent with the people who have come from outside. They are veterans in comparison to the ones that we have here. And on top of it, they all take alcohol.




Just imagine they call themselves Christians, yet they all consume alcohol. So by taking alcohol, you are going against yourself only. You are opposing your own Agnya Chakra. You are not accepting it.




The person whose Agnya Chakra has been cleared, he can never take alcohol. He can never ever consume alcohol. You find people everywhere taking alcohol and they have no remedy either to overcome it. Instead they prefer to consume it.

Happy Diwali. I wish you all a very happy Diwali. You saw all these varieties of dances. Take a lesson from them that whoever it was or whoever has composed or spoken of it have all been speaking of the same thing.




And the most important thing that they all spoke about was that the Paramatma (God Almighty) is one. They all incarnated in different forms, but the Paramatma is one.




There is no dispute amongst them. They incarnate on Earth to bring about the destruction of evil and to condemn the bad people – and this is happening everywhere.




I find everywhere all the evil people are getting exposed. And now it is your duty also to identify those who are evil-doers, working against the will of God and who can go to any extent for the sake of money. They all will go to hell.




We are not aware of how many hells exist. The environment in which you are seated, the place where you are sitting is far away from hell. This has no relation to hell at all. But by being here, if you practice adharm or commit wrongs, then it can also lead you to hell.




There are several types of hells and arrangements are also done up very well to get there. Because the people who go there do not know where are they going- and those who are saved they go to the heaven- so nobody knows on this level of Earth that he has to go to hell. We will go to hell if we commit wrong.




And the meaning of Diwali is this: that as the lamps are lit outside, similarly they should be lit within you.

My Dear Sahaja Yogis,

Received your loving and beautiful letters and messages of greetings. Here, I am busy in the work in London and could not write.



Once I told you that Sahaja Yoga is beginning from Navaratri this year. That is Satya -Yuga for which you were so far preparing, will now be seen. As a tree has to sprout first in the earth and then its sapling peeps out, in the same way, on the first day of Navaratri i.e. on 8th April the sapling of Satya -Yuga will be seen.



It is the day of great joy. Whole nature will now have new life. You must understand that the importance of this day will be known only if the whole mankind is enlightened with vibrations of love.



In this world Brahma Shakti was awakened from the very day of My birth. You have received it to some extent, and are using it in many ways.



I was telling you that light of the great power of love will spread all over the world. The first lamp will be lit on that day. But the night of Diwali is blind. It cannot seethe lamps. In this Kali-Yuga, this work will be done only if many lamps are lit.



Whatever is God's work, it will be over. Hence all should be alert and awake and also awaken others.


My life is dedicated to you. Every moment it is working. All I want is that pure gold should enlighten human history while getting heated in the hell of Kali -yuga.



My blessings are: may this lamp be kindled in every home, may its joy spread in the society, may the cheers of its victory resound all countries and may this power of Brahman fill every molecule of this Universe.

I have to be away from you for a very long time. But your brothers are living here and also in other countries. You will meet each other in course of time. But I often feel that one day of such great joy of love should dawn in our life. Whatever you desire you desire will happen. Therefore, your attention should be fully on Sahaja Yoga. I have offered My body, mind and wealth, everything.



You have to take care of only your Chitta because only that will be enlightened.

Raja Lakshmi and Gruha Lakshmi

Right side is the Raja Lakshmi… I would say once this Raja Lakshmi business comes up then you will understand the respect, because once you respect yourself you start respecting others also. And that you are all saints, you have to respect each other in the same way.

And today now the light, light is there. Light is a very important thing. From the very beginning, you see, when man discovered the fire, the fire was used in the Gruha Lakshmi state where the fire cooked the food, and you see the warmth of the Mother was shown through that heat she used in the house to warm up her children, to give them food and all that. Then it became, say, a very collective thing, it is expressed as light, you see. If you have to celebrate say your Republic day or your Independence Day we put the lights on, or we have fireworks. You see to express ourselves that way is in the Raja Lakshmi.

Necessity of doing meditation in Sahaja Yoga

Every day you should do meditation. Those who do not do meditation are capable of falling down because meditation is like putting oil into the lamp. Those who do not meditate, think they can do without it, are sadly mistaken. They have to meditate morning and evening. The problem is everything comes so handily, so simple that they don't understand that meditation is very important.


Not you, but there are many I know who get Realization, who don't meditate and their style is different. Their nature is different.

Meditation is such a soothing thing ... a beautiful way of connection with the Divine, that all your problems get solved in that meditative moment.

If you are not meditating, you are not following meditation, then maybe your light will go down. It won't give sufficient light. It's important, very important to find out about yourself, about others in the meditation.

How to do meditation, many people ask. Don't do anything, just go into thoughtless awareness. Try to go to the thoughtless awareness. If you can get into that condition of thoughtless awareness, you can do your job because that's the point where you are with the truth, with the reality, with the joy.

When you meditate try not to make some sort of a function out of it - no. Meditation is something silent in yourself, silence in your thoughts and going to that deep ocean which is within you, itself. But supposing you don't do that, if you don't meditate I can make out immediately those who are meditating and those who are not. It's not difficult for Me.

Those who do not meditate are always hesitating. They are confused. They can't understand. And that's why meditation is the most important thing.

Just like a light burns with the electricity flowing in it, in the same way meditation is a continuous availability of the Divine Force. That will reduce all your agitations. Not only that, but it takes out all the negative thoughts. It takes out all the discouraging things. And when you are meditating like that, thoughtless awareness, then you will be amazed how you are helped from within and without. It's a terrible power that works, this thoughtless awareness.

So those who do not meditate cannot go very much far with the advantage of Sahaj Yoga. If you are in thoughtless awareness, what happens to you is that you get the confidence, complete confidence of divinity. You know you have it.


Meditation will give you security.... It will give you are a real enlightenment and a complete connection with the Divine. Without the connection of the Divine, what's the use of doing Sahaj Yog?...

"My dear Sahaja Yogis, my dear children,Let this Diwali enlighten you with light of love.You yourself are the lamps which burn high and don't get pressed by the cover. They become much more powerful than the cover. It is their own asset. When they are hit upon, they are disturbed and extinguished.


Why are our lamps disturbed ? You should think over it. Is there no transparent sheath around them ? Have you forgotten your Mother's love and therefore you are so disturbed? As the glass protects the lamp, in the same way my love will protect you. But the glass should be kept clean. How can I explain? Have I to say like Shri Krishna “Leave all religions and surrender to me” or as Shri Jesus "I am the way, I am the door”.

I want to tell that I am that destination. But will you people accept it ? Will this fact go to your hearts? Although what I say is distorted, the truth will always stand.You cannot change what it is. Only you will remain ignorant and backward. I am unhappy because of that.

Diwali is the day of real aspirations. Invoke the whole universe. Many lamps have to be lit, and looked after. Add the oil of love, Kundalini is the wick and awaken the Kundalini of others with light of the spirit within you. This flame of Kundalini will be kindled and one within you will become the torch. Torch is not extinguished. Then there will be spotless sheath of my love. It will neither have any limits nor any end. I will be watching you.

When women start crying, men starts moving onto the left and get possessed.

"In this lifetime, the highest thing is your ascent and your position in the kingdom of God. Especially for ladies, I have to tell you because, you see, reading all these tragic things all over…. It just starts working in the nerves of the ladies. If somebody says the slightest things it becomes like a bombshell .we should first see what harm we do to ourselves. So many women in the west have ruined themselves, but they never cry for that. But there are sensible women I have seen in the East and the West who have a great sense of life, like an elephant is walking and the dogs are barking, so what does it matter?

That majesty comes when inside you have that joy. Nobody can make me unhappy this should be the principle; otherwise you start moving towards the left side. Crying is also another kind of ego expression. When women start crying, men starts moving onto the left and get possessed." So today I want a promise from you all that you're not going to cry at all. Instead of flowers you just give me this flower of promise. I never cry. Of course, sometimes 'Sandra Karuna', "one tear or two tears might come out. After all, I 'm a Mother. "But this doesn't mean sitting, crying and becoming hysterical. Don't read any book, which talks of crying, but book, which are deep, also makes you feel very much touched; if you feel like crying it's all right.

"Even in the event of crisis, Sahaja Yoginis should not cry Shri Mataji related Her own experience: " Like when My father died, I was surprised that suddenly I became thoughtless absolutely thoughtless. For about three days I was thoughtless neither the thought of pain or unhappiness or anything came up, but just the thoughtless. And everybody was surprised because I looked after him, and he was very attached to Me, very fond of Me. So, if you are a Sahaja Yogi or Yogini, "then at the time of crisis you should become thoughtless. That is one of the signs… That means what? That God just takes you in, your problems. He puts His hand, He puts His protection and He takes you out of it and makers you absolutely thoughtless. And in that thoughtless awareness you discover what is right. What is wrong? So even in crisis, this thoughtless awareness is all the time extremely alert, it becomes much more alert than normal."

How do we really get Protection From Mother!

"Nobody can make me unhappy". This should be the principle," otherwise you start moving towards the Left-Side".

You may say that we don't understand Mother's style. She is full of tricks. Correct! I AM... but there is a very simple way of doing it. You can surrender to my wisdom, and the wisdom itself is active, it will work.... Wisdom within you is active. Because the deities are with you. ... and whatever happens to you , They are before you. Nobody can harm you, nobody can touch you. You are so protected that if anyone tries to harm you, immediately there is a protection. Also your own protection is there, as I said, "You jump into thoughtless awareness".

Celebration of Diwali

Today we are going to celebrate the Diwali, which means the rows of lights or, you can say, group of lights. This Diwali has been a festival of very ancient times in India. I already told in My previous lectures what these five days are. After killing Narakasura (the demon), Diwali was celebrated when it was the darkest night of the year. So now, it is very symbolic of these modern times because the worst time, as far as morality is concerned has been in these modern times. We call it the Ghor Kali Yuga, the worst modern times. That means a complete darkness and, as you see around, you'll find out that there is complete darkness as far as morality is concerned, but that's why there are all kinds of crises. Because of that, also, there are many who are seeking the light, the truth.

Purity of Relationships

Now, the second day of Diwali, last day, is where a brother and sisters celebrate together for relationship, which is so pure and protective. That is to show that, after putting the lights, morality must be the first priority for the society. I need not tell you today immoral side of modern times. It's horrible. Immorality is the greatest darkness of modern times where people do not know how they relate to each other for which, as I told you before, Christ has suggested that you take out the eyes of a man who looks at a woman twice because He found, at that time, people were horrid. Who can follow Christ in these modern times? Both the eyes, both the hands will be cut off. On the whole, if you see, I haven't seen any Christian like that, so far.

The Destruction of Injustice

The last one is the best, where they have the meeting of Shri Rama and his brother Bharat. Shri Rama went to jail, obeying his father; for 14 years he was not in jail, but he went in the forest. It was a kind of a jail only because he was living in the palaces and then he was sent to the forest by his father: with his daughter-in-law, means his own wife, and also the brother - they went together into great sufferings - and you know the whole story of Ramayana. The child that lived in the palaces had to go in the forest and live in terrible conditions, when he was to be the king - it was too much. But Sita (Shri Rama’s wife) went with him and she supported him and ultimately it so happened that Ravana (the demon) came and took away Sita. Shri Rama fought Ravana, killed him, and brought back his wife. But when they came back to their own capital, in Ayodyha, there was a big jubilation and Bharat, his brother, he was very much attached to his brother (Shri Rama) and he ruled that country with the paduka, they say, (a kind of sandalwood slippers they use) of his brother: he put them on the throne, and ruled. So that is how the Bharatmilan, the meeting of Bharat with Shri Rama is celebrated and that was the time he was crowned also as the king. So it was a long time back, 1000’s of years back, this thing has happened. That jubilation is very significant, that the right king gets his own thrown and he rules and all injustice and all kinds of atrocities he has gone through has to be completely finished from his life and that’s why Diwali is important.

Significance of Diwali

Dhanteras – respect of wife – Gruhalakshmi

Firstly, in Diwali, the first day they buy something for the family, it could be some cooking utensil, could be an ornament for the wife, or something like that; because that is the day of the housewife and that day is to be celebrated as the housewives’, I should say, homage to her. As a result, you know in India, even now, housewives are very much respected. Actually they are respected all over, you will be amazed, that even in the protocol of the government receptions, anywhere, the wife is very important and where she is sitting, what her position is, it’s very important. Even today, in the most modern and advanced countries also, they have a special respect for the housewife. The housewife may not be educated, she may be a very simple woman, and she may not be very modern.

So it is very important, that on this day, we call it Dhanteras, the thirteenth day, you have to buy something for your wife, and you have to give her something as a present. At least you should buy a little pot or something that can be used in the kitchen to show your respect to her. In the families where the mother is not respected, children become extremely troublesome and the whole of their family also suffers, whenever they are married, whatever happens to them. Men have to realize that it is their mistake that they have never respected their wives as they should have. In the presence of the children, if they shout, in the presence of the children if they don’t show any respect, the children can never respect the mother. It is a criminal thing to do to women who are in the household, doing all the work for you, looking after you, your family, not demanding anything. Only if you want to understand how they can be troublesome is to see them in the politics. When they go into politics they put all the men upside down. One woman can put all of them in their proper senses; because their field is their house, their family. If they are not respected in the family, they get out of the family and behave in such a manner that you can’t imagine. Though she has to bear a lot, she has to suffer a lot: but in the family she must be respected, that’s a very very important message of Gruha Lakshmi (wife).

Oneness must be established in you

But don’t worry about things which are of no value to us. You must know you are a special race. You are special soldiers who have been trained for doing Sahaj work only. So wasting energy on your relations and brothers and sisters is no good for you. It is to be understood now that you have your own energy reserved. For what? For Sahaja Yogis. You should help everyone who is a Sahaja Yogi or who wants to become a Sahaja Yogi. Who are established Sahaja Yogis, you must help them; because we are one personality and these are all the different hands of one personality, one God. So this oneness must be established within yourself and also others should see that oneness in you.

A kind of a complete integrated organism as you become; you become an organization I should say, which is a living organization. In that you do not feel you are something separate - any Sahaja Yogi, whether he is highly placed or he’s not doing much in life. This integration, this oneness, this feeling of identification with others makes you so large, so big, so great, so powerful. You are not alone, and you say, “I’m not doing anything."

It is sometimes clouded but these clouds also get absolutely cleared out. And really we become a very innocent personality radiant with Divinity. It’s like a lamp or you can say a candle. You can enlighten a candle with another candle which is enlightened and this can go on. This is how it is because the time has come, and I call it the blossom time."
